As winter is inevitably around the corner, catching a two hour flight to Faro and another twenty minute car ride to the Eastern Algarve and the beautiful Vila Monte Farm seemed like a good escape from reality in late September. A last chance to get some sun and soak in the good life full of delicious, simple seafood, beach walks, dips into the cold Atlantic, recharging that tan and pretending for a few days that summer is endless.
Vila Monte Farm is a short ride from Olhão known for sardines and Moorish-style houses. Outside Olhão, a true nature wonder awaits you, the Parque Natural Ria Formosa with beautiful long stretched beaches. The only way to get there is by water taxi. Luckily Vila Monte Farm offers a car/boat taxi shuttle service and even better has a reserved area on the beach, so when you arrive at this secluded part of the beach, everything is prepared for you, parasols and even towels are already placed onto the sand. If you are in a bit more explore like mood, venture more West and explore the rockier Algarve beaches like Praia dos Caneiros, have a long, late lunch at Rei das Praias before jumping into some big waves.
